Niklas Olsen

Niklas Olsen is a Professor in intellectual history at the University of Copenhagen (UPCH) with a focus on political ideology, economic thought, and environmentalism in twentieth century in Europe and beyond. His current research aims to explore how ideas about technology and growth have come to shape our political responses to nature's crisis. Prior to this, Niklas was Associate Professor in European history and Chair of Centre of Modern European Studies (CEMES) at the University of Copenhagen, a visiting fellow at the Cambridge Center of Political Thought, and a visiting researcher at the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities at the University of Essen. Niklas holds degrees in history from UCPH (MA) and the EUI (PhD). Niklas published two monographs: The Sovereign Consumer: A New Intellectual History of Neoliberalism, Palgrave Macmillan (2018) and History in the Plural. An Introduction to the Work of Reinhart Koselleck, Berghahn Books (2012).
